Medical Weight Loss with Dr. Robertson

Achieving an optimal weight can be very beneficial in many different types of health conditions. As a functional medicine Doctor, I understand that weight management and weight loss is about much more then diet and exercise. My passion for assisting patients in weight loss has driven me to explore possible road blocks in my patient’s health. I have invested an extensive amount of time, energy and resources in exploring different options for my patients. What I have discovered, is when underlying health and balances are corrected patients lose weight more easily and are able to maintain it. Even more importantly their health is greatly improved and they just feel better!

When evaluating a patient for reasons they may not be losing weight, despite a health well-balanced whole foods diet and adequate exercise, I consider the following:

  • Food allergies and intolerances
  • Stress hormones (DHEA and Cortisol)
  • Female/Male hormone imbalances
  • Insulin Resistance (Blood Sugar Regulation)
  • Thyroid function to include free thyroid hormones
  • Toxic burden to the body to include heavy metals
  • Inflammation, both systemic and local
  • Sleep quality and deprivation
  • Gut dysbosis – poor gut function and intestinal permeability issues due to yeast, parasites, bad bacteria, lack of digestive enzymes, and/or good bacteria
  • Neurotransmitters – otherwise known as our brain chemistry
  • Nutritional deficiencies

As a Naturopathic Doctor, I have advanced knowledge, experience and training to evaluate patients in the above imbalances. I often use labs to guide me as to where to start with a patient’s journey to optimal health. I utilize diet, lifestyle, nutrients, vitamins, minerals, bioidentical hormones, and occasional pharmaceuticals to assist patients to achieve their weight management goals.
