Acupuncture can help with conditions like pain management, depression, anxiety, allergies, headaches, insomnia, fatigue, addiction, diabetes, colds and flu, fertility and pregnancy support, menopause, sports injuries, and many other conditions as well as prevention. Chinese Medicine is a complete system that can support any body system, condition, and assist the body to stay healthy.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine extends far beyond putting needles in clients. The scope of practice for Acupuncturists includes a number of techniques as well as dietary advice and herbal prescriptions. Acupuncturist’s official title in Washington State is East Asian Medicine Practitioner (EAMP), which gives better explanation to the broad scope of practice of which Chinese medicine and Acupuncture are a part. Treatment can include tui na (Chinese medicinal massage), cupping/gua sha (friction techniques that help with muscle-skeletal condition as well as internal imbalances), Moxa (warming herbal treatment used on and above acupoints) herbal medicine, Chinese medicine diet and lifestyle advice. After a thorough intake, Melissa will provide treatment and usually there is a rest period during session where you can relax while the treatment is taking place, this can be 20-40 minutes depending on the individual and condition.
Along with Acupuncture needles Melissa will often complement a traditional session with sound healing, using Acutonics® tuning forks and/or Tibetan singing bowls for relaxation and harmonizing.
In addition to acupuncture and Chinese medicine, Melissa is also trained in traditional Swedish/deep tissue massage and utilizes Ayurvedic medicine and bodywork. Ayurvedic medicine is also a complete system of medicine and can assist the body by using Ayurveda’s primary focuses include diet, daily routine, herbal supplements and treatment as a way to achieve overall health and balance.
Acupuncture is a 5,000+ year old system of medicine whose history is rich with symbolism, deep insights and true healing. The science of Acupuncture uses the body’s energy channels (meridians) to balance the flow of energy internally, relating to the organs and their functions and externally, relating to anatomy and physiology. Qi, Pronounced (chee), is the subtle energy which flows through the body and is the determining factor of ones’ overall life-force. A main function in Acupuncture’s method is to add Qi where there is deficiency (tonifying), move Qi where there is stagnation (i.e. pain) and remove Qi where there is excess (sedation). The 12 primary meridians relate specifically to the function of 12 main organs in Chinese medicine. Balancing the functions of these organs is done by determining specific points along the meridian that will allow the organ to restore itself to correct functioning and efficiency. Acupuncture is one of many modalities in the field known as East Asian Medicine. Acupuncturists are trained to understand the body’s subtle energy flow, listening to the individual’s body and working in the highest interest of the patients overall health.

I have been receiving acupuncture for many months and have seen great progress in my back and neck pain. I have been really amazed at how much Melissa has been able to help in these areas, especially since months of physical therapy and many medications were unable to manage. I would highly recommend anyone to see Melissa if they are considering any of her services. She is very professional while also being very friendly. Wonderful experience every time. - Customer since October 2012
Awesome experience! This was my first experience with acupuncture and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. I've seen Melissa several times now and she is knowledgeable, kind and treats my whole person. I appreciate the fact that she utilizes multiple techniques and I leave every time relaxed. She has reduced the symptoms I came for as well as some that I did not. - Customer since August 2014

My wife and I both have seen incredible results from her treatment. She is warm, extremely knowledgeable, and very intuitive, so she gets to the root of the problem and goes to work on it right away.
